Issue #2 Let the holiday baking commence!
A guide on how food bloggers get picture perfect cookies
Hey, Hi, Hello!
Welcome to the second issue of The Scoop! This week I’ve got a recipe on how to make Christmas buns as well as a guide on how to make picture-perfect cookies.
L’escalade It’s almost time for my favorite weird Swiss holiday! Back in 1602, Savoyard troops were sent for a surprise attack during the night in an attempt to capture the city of Geneva. According to legend, a cook took a large cauldron of boiling vegetable soup and poured it over the attackers who were scaling the walls. All the noise from pouring boiling soup over soldiers woke up the rest of the city and they went to defend Geneva. To celebrate, we have little chocolate cauldrons with marzipan vegetables every December (and also do a run around the city). It is truly a bizarre holiday but I love these chocolate pots, called marmite de l’Escalade.
Willy’s Pies A few fancy grocery stores near me have started stocking Willy’s Pies. With fun flavors like beef rogan josh or classics like steak & ale, I am now a savory pie person! Who even am I??
Christmas Cookie Class The amazing Molly J. Wilk is hosting some fun Christmas baking zoom classes! I’m definitely going to be taking this Christmas cookie class, as well as her Santa hat class. How smug would you be serving these on Christmas day?
